The Kalamazoo College men's golf team opened the season at the Ken Venturi Inviational hosted by Trine on Thursday, Sept. 3.
Each team had three two-man teams with three different formats: six holes best ball, six holes scramble, six holes alternate shot - all stroke play.
Kalamazoo's teams consisted of David Smith/Travis Veenhuis and Phil Ritchie/Nick Ludka while Ben Bloomfield, Riley Boyd, and Nick Marsh made up the third team, rotating one man out every hole.
Smith/Veenhuis tied for medalist honors with a 62 while recording two eagles during the round. Ritchie/Ludka shot 67, but were medal winners in the alternate shot portion.
Kalamazoo returns to action at the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament hosted by Olivet on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4-5.
