The Kalamazoo College men's golf team is in fifth place out of ten teams following the first day of competition at the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament hosted by Olivet at Bedford Valley.
Kalamazoo shot 301 on the first day, just 12 strokes out of first place and three strokes out of fourth.
David Smith tied for sixth overall with an even 72. Nick Ludka shot 73.
Phil Ritchie and Travis Veenhuis each came in at 78.
The tournament concludes Saturday, Sept. 5 beginning at 9 a.m.
