Men's Golf fourth at Olivet's Lou Collins Memorial

The Kalamazoo College men's golf team finished fourth at the Olivet College Lou Collins Memorial Tournament on Saturday. After shooting 301 on Friday, Kalamazoo combined for 297 on Saturday to move up to the fourth spot. Kalamazoo edged Hope by three strokes while trailing the leader Calvin by 24 strokes.

David Smith shot a two-under 70 on Saturday while tying for fifth overall with a two-day total of 142. Nick Ludka shot 73 both days to tie for ninth at 146.

Phil Ritchie (78-73--151) and Travis Veenhuis (78-81--159) rounded out the scoring for the Hornets.

Kalamazoo's two-day score of 598 was 28 strokes better than the team's performance in the same event last year.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to open conference play at Albion on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
