The Kalamazoo College men's golf team placed third in the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree hosted by Albion College Wednesday afternoon. The Hornets ended the day with a combined score of 312, just four strokes off the pace of first place Calvin and three strokes shy of second place Trine.
Phil Ritchie and Travis Veenhuis led the way for Kalamazoo as they each ended the day with a 75, good for a fourth place tie at the event.
David Smith recorded the third best score for the Hornets Wednesday afternoon shooting an 80, placing him 20th overall.
Nick Ludka and Ben Bloomfield rounded out the top five golfers for K with Ludka notching an 82 and Bloomfield recording an 85.
The Hornets will head to the Anderson University Invitational Sept. 12 and 13 before resuming MIAA play on Sept. 15 at Olivet College.
