Jones Named MIAA Player of the Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Jackson Jones of the Kalamazoo College men's golf team was honored as the MIAA Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season. 

Jones, a sophomore from Bloomfield Hills, Mich. (Seaholm HS), tallied his first collegiate victory with a one under 71 at the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate that was hosted by the Hornets at The Moors on Monday. His low score led the Hornets to a first place finish as a team. 

To end the week, Jones placed in a tie for eighth at the Stonehedge Shootout over the weekend by posting scores of 77 on Friday and 74 on Saturday to lead Kalamazoo to a third place finish.Jones now has a scoring average of 74.8 over Kalamazoo's 13 tournaments this season. His mark is just behind Nick Ludka's 74.5 for the lowest score on the team.

This is the third time Jones has been selected as the Player of the Week by the MIAA in his career. He was most recently honored two weeks ago following Kalamazoo's trip to North Carolina.

Jones and the Hornets are scheduled to be back in action Tuesday, April 16 at Calvin.
