The Kalamazoo College men's golf team had Alec Rosenbaum selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Team, as announced on Tuesday (May 23). The sports that fall under the at-large category include beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, and water polo.
To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played at least 50% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Rosenbaum was the second-best golfer on the Hornets by participating in all 18 rounds and averaging 81.3 strokes. That included six MIAA rounds with an average of 81.0 strokes. His best round of the conference season came in round one of the MIAA Fall Final with a 77 and finished with a 157 after an 80 on day two. The best round of the season was a 76 on day one of the Take Back the Night Challenge at Red Tail Run. Rosenbaum is majoring in business and has a cumulative GPA of 3.62.
Now that Rosenbaum has made the district team, he will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in June.
