Emiliano Alvarado Rescala of the Kalamazoo College men's golf team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 10).
The Hornets continued MIAA play with MIAA Jamborees #2 and #3 on Sept. 25 and 30. Kalamazoo finished fifth and fourth with team scores of 320 and 301.
In the last two rounds for Rescala, he has shot a 79 and a 70, which, along with the 74 he shot in the first MIAA Jamboree, places him in the top 10 of the MIAA. The 70 is the first time a Hornet shot that low since the fall of 2021 when Parker Pickell did it thrice. In his first collegiate season, Rescala is second on the team in average stroke per round (76.2), just behind Tyler Omness (75.8). However, Rescala leads the team in MIAA events by averaging 74.3 strokes per round.
Kalamazoo will continue conference play on Wednesday (Oct. 11) with the fourth MIAA Jamboree as Olivet hosts.
