Emiliano Alvarado Rescala of the Kalamazoo College men's golf team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Apr. 30).
The Hornets concluded the short spring season in the MIAA Spring Finale on Apr. 26-27, finishing seventh with a team score of 655.
Alvarado Rescala shot a 79 on day one of the tournament, which was one stroke behind teammate Tyler Omness. Alvarado Resala then shot one stroke better the following day and ended up with a team-best 157 (79-78) for the tournament. This put him in a tie for 11th and earned him All-MIAA Second Team honors in his first year of collegiate golf.
Alvarado Rescala's best round of golf this season was at the third MIAA Jamboree, where he shot a 70 at the Zollner Golf Club. In 13 total rounds, he averaged 77.7 strokes per 18 holes. During conference play, his stroke total went down to 76.2 strokes per 18 holes in six rounds. Alvarado Rescala had the best average on the team during MIAA play and was the second-best overall.
