Men's Lacrosse wins second straight game

Clapton Marquis playing lacrosse.

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team picked up its second win of the season Saturday afternoon on the University of Dubuque's campus as the Hornets defeated the Spartans, 5-4.

After Dubuque took an early 1-0 lead, Kalamazoo countered with a pair of goals before halftime. Zach Morales found the back of the net on the Hornets' first goal with 3:31 remaining in the first quarter. The assist was credited to Clapton Marquis.

With just 1:08 remaining in the first half Marquis got himself on the scoring sheet off an assist from Alex McDonell.

The third quarter provided back-and-forth action but a goal apiece from Marquis, McDonell and Kellen Radulski gave K a 5-3 lead heading into the fourth and that's all they need to come out on top.

The Hornets outplayed Dubuque in multiple aspects of the game outshooting the Spartans 33-20 and picking up 32 ground balls compared to the Spartans 30.

Kalamazoo will hit the road one more time before opening the season at home on March 26. The Hornets are scheduled to take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering on March 23.
