Men's Lacrosse falls to Benedictine

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team dropped its home opener on Wednesday night by a score of 18-6 to Benedictine.

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead with two goals in the first minute of the game. Brandon Wright scored K's first goal with just under three minutes remaining in the first quarter. Kalamazoo trailed 5-1 after the first, but nine Benedictine goals in the second made the halftime score 14-2.

Benedictine tacked on four more goals in the third, but Doug Shipp grabbed another back for K before the Hornets scored all of the goals recorded in the fourth to bring the final score to 18-6.

Brandon Wright had two goals for K and Jack Smith added a goal and two assists for the Hornets. Corbin Gett and Anthony Leahy each had four goals for Benedictine.

Tim Grobosky took the loss in goal for K, but made 15 saves and Nate Silverman made four saves in relief.

The Hornets will be at home again on Saturday, March 3rd as they take on MSOE at 2 p.m.
