Men's Lacrosse defeated at Heidelberg

Tiffin, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team fell to Heidelberg by a score of 16-7 on Saturday afternoon.

Heidelberg opened the game with five unanswered goals before Jake Bonifacio scored off of an assist from Brandon Wright to grab K's first goal of the game with 30 seconds left in the first period. Wright scored twice in the second quarter to bring the game to 8-3 heading into halftime.

The Hornets scored twice in each of the third and fourth quarters, but simply could not keep up with the scoring of Heidelberg as the game ended 16-7.

For the game, Heidelberg outshot K 39-33 and forced K into 25 turnovers, but the Hornets held a 16-10 advantage in won faceoffs.

Brandon Wright led K offensively with three goals and two assists. Dylan Regling scored a goal and picked up four ground balls while Jake Bonifacio, Jack Smith, and Doug Shipp also found the back of the net for K.

Tim Grobosky and Nate Silverman each made six saves in goal for the Hornets.

Matt Wernerspach led all scorers with five goals for Heidelberg.

Kalamazoo will play its next game on March 24th at 1 p.m. on the road at Augustana.
