Men's Lacrosse Wins Season Opener at Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team won its season opener 15-8 at Benedictine University on Saturday.

The host Eagles scored first, but Kalamazoo scored the next four to lead 4-1 after the first quarter. Benedictine scored first again in the second quarter, but Kalamazoo increased its lead to seven (10-3) entering halftime.

Benedictine scored the first goal of the third, but Kalamazoo again increased its lead (13-5) by the end of the quarter. Kalamazoo scored the first two goals of the fourth to go up 15-5 before allowing three goals in the final minutes for the 15-8 final.

Jack Loveland tied the school record while leading the Hornets with five goals on eight shots.

Dylan McGorisk scored four goals while Brandon Wright scored four goals with two assists. Jack Smith also had two assists.

McGorisk led the team with five ground balls while Jake Nugent and Zach Morales were each credited with four.

Nate Silverman made 16 saves in goal.

Kalamazoo returns to action next Saturday, March 9 at Concordia Chicago.
