Men's Lacrosse Defeated by Adrian

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team lost 17-15 to Adrian on Tuesday night. The Hornets fought hard in a tight game with 11 ties and five different lead changes. 

Adrian drew first before the Hornets were able to score with a goal from Jack Jesko to tie things at 11:21. Both teams traded goals through the first quarter as four different Kalamazoo players scored. The Bulldogs were still able to take a narrow lead into the second quarter. 

Both teams scored a trio of goals in the second quarter, with Adrian keeping their one-point lead. Jake Nugent earned a hat trick at 3:54 with his third goal of the game. In the third quarter, Adrian pulled ahead for its largest lead of the game with three straight goals before the Hornets scored three of their own, Jack Jesko scoring his third goal of the game and Brandon Wright contributing two. 

The Hornets tied things up at 12-12 in the first minute of the fourth quarter with a goal from Wright. Adrian was able to go ahead with the next goal but Kalamazoo quickly followed up with back-to-back scores for their first official lead of the game, 14-13. Despite another goal from Jesko to keep Kalamazoo ahead, the Bulldogs scored three straight goals in the final two minutes of the quarter to earn the 17-15 win. 

Adrian outshot the Hornets 46-32 and had 31 shots on goal to Kalamazoo's 21. The Hornets totaled 37 ground balls, won 11 faceoffs and caused ten Adrian turnovers. 

Brandon Wright led the Hornets with a career-high six goals on 11 shots. He also collected two ground balls. 

Jack Jesko also earned a new career-high with four goals, adding six ground balls and one assist. 

Jake Nugent scored three goals for the Hornets. 

Goalie Kiah Holdsworth had a career-high 14 saves in goal for Kalamazoo, playing all four quarters of the contest. 

The Hornets are back in action on Friday when they host Hope for a 7 p.m. game.
