Cam VanGalder of the Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team was selected as the MIAA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on Monday (Mar. 4). This is the first time that the junior has received an MIAA Player of the Week honor.
Kalamazoo continued the 2024 season with a road game at Benedictine on Mar. 2. The Hornets earned their first win of the season with a 20-14 victory over the Eagles.
After having a previous career-high of four goals in a game, VanGalder exploded against Benedictine with a 10-goal performance. This breaks a program record of eight goals in a game Dylan McGorisk set against Adrian in 2019. VanGalder took 15 shots against the Eagles, with 12 having a chance to score between the pipes. He also added two ground balls. In 24 career games, VanGalder has scored 24 goals and dished out five assists for 29 points while also collecting 22 ground balls and a caused turnover.
The Hornets will continue non-conference play with their home opener against MSOE on Saturday (Mar. 9).
