Men's Lacrosse Falls to North Central

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team was defeated 14-5 by North Central College at MacKenzie Field on Wednesday. The visiting Cardinals improved to 5-0, while the Hornets fell to 2-2.

North Central scored the first goal of the game but trailed 2-1 midway through the first quarter. North Central scored three goals in the final 4:29 to lead 4-2 at the end of one.

The Cardinals scored the first three goals of the second quarter to lead 7-2 before a pair of Hornet goals in the final 2:38 made it a 7-4 game at halftime.

North Central scored the only three goals in the third quarter to go up 10-4. Alternating goals to start the fourth made it an 11-5 game before North Central scored the final three for the 14-5 win.

North Central outshot Kalamazoo 51-38 overall. Each team had 21 shots on goal. North Central won 14-of-23 faceoffs.

Eli Routt scored twice to lead the Hornets offensively. 

Logan Gillis scored a goal and had an assist.

Cam VanGalder and Ryan Warezak each scored a goal. Ronin Honda and Mike Hume each had an assist.

Jack Bungart led the Hornets with five ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Larson Makie made four saves in goal in the first half. Dylan Wickey had three saves in the second half.

The Hornets are now off until March 23 when they travel to Aurora University.
