Jack Bungart of the Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Mar. 19).
Kalamazoo continued its season with a home game against North Central on Mar. 13. The Hornets were defeated by the Cardinals 14-5.
Bungart has been one of Kalamazoo's top defensive forces this season, totaling five ground balls and three caused turnovers against North Central. As a team, the Kalamazoo defense forced 29 total turnovers against the Cardinals and held them to a 73% clear percentage. Four games into the season, Bungart leads the team with 21 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers, plus adding an assist offensively. In the MIAA, he is first in caused turnovers per game and second in ground balls per game. The sophomore has played in 15 games at Kalamazoo so far and has collected 66 ground balls, 45 caused turnovers, two goals, and three assists.
The Hornets will continue non-conference play with a road game at Aurora on Saturday (Mar. 23).
