Men's Lacrosse Falls at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team was defeated 15-8 at Transylvania University on Saturday.

Kalamazoo scored the first goal just over a minute into the contest and led 3-1 midway through the first quarter. A late goal by Transylvania made it a 3-2 game after one.

The Pioneers scored the first two goals of the second quarter to take their first lead of hte game. Kalamazoo tied it but a pair of Pioneers' goals and one by Kalamazoo gave Transylvania a 6-5 lead at halftime.

Transylvania scored two goals within the first minute of the third quarter and the first four to take a 10-5 lead. A Kalamazoo goal made it 10-6 before Transylvania scored three more to end the quarter up 13-6.

Kalamazoo scored twice in the fourth but each was followed by a Transylvania goal leading to the 15-8 final.

Transylvania outshot Kalamazoo 51-29 including 35-17 on goal. The Pioneers won 23 of the 27 faceoffs.

Eli Routt led the Hornets offensively with two goals.

Ryan Warezak had a goal and an assist. Jake Asnis was credited with two assists.

Jack Bungart led the Hornets with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Dylan Wickey made 20 saves in goal.

Kalamazoo opens MIAA play at Alma next Saturday, April 6, at 1 p.m.
