Cam VanGalder of the Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team was selected as the MIAA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on Monday (Apr. 8). This is the second time this season and in his career that the junior has received an MIAA Player of the Week honor.

The Hornets continued their season with a road MIAA opener at Alma on Apr. 6. Kalamazoo defeated the Scots 17-4 to get back to a .500 record on the season.

After missing most of last season due to injury, VanGalder has been an offensive spark for the Hornets and led the team with six points on five goals and an assist against Alma. All six of his shots were on target, with five finding the back of the net and adding a ground ball. The five goals are tied for the fifth-most in a game in program history, which is a record VanGalder holds by scoring 10 against Benedictine on Mar. 2 this season. He currently has the sixth-most goals in a season as a Hornet and the eighth-most all-time. In eight games this season, VanGalder leads the team with 27 goals and 37 shots on goal, adding two assists for 27 points, 17 ground balls, and five caused turnovers.

Kalamazoo will continue conference play with a home game against Albion on Tuesday (Apr. 9) and a road game at Calvin on Saturday (Apr. 13).
