KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team led the Calvin Knights 3-2 with a minute to play in a Tuesday night game at MacKenzie Field. Unfortunately for the Hornets, Calvin scored the tying goal with 31 seconds to play and then the game-winner 4:50 into the first overtime to stun the Hornets.

Kalamazoo fell behind in the first two minutes when Taylor Pruis scored to give Calvin a 1-0 lead. K did not wait long to answer. Sophomore forward Nicholas Shabino answered in the sixth minute on a cross from freshman Camilo Cervino.

Sophomore Emerson Talanda-Fisher gave K its first lead in the 13th minute using a pass from freshman Joshua Robison to beat Calvin netminder Andrew Claucherty.

The last minute of each half proved to be Kalamazoo's undoing. Calvin scored with eight seconds left in the first half to tie the game at two and again in the final minute to send the game to overtime.

In the overtime, Calvin earned a corner kick and send a low ball into the Hornet box. Sean Broekhuizen used his heel to send a short pass to Sam Hanover who beat Kalamazoo goalkeeper Beau Prey.

"Despite the result, I am proud of the way the boys played," Kalamazoo Head Coach Lumumba Shabazz said. "Both teams are skilled and played a solid game."

Kalamazoo was outshot in the contest 22-6, but four of its six shots were on target.

Prey made six saves in the nearly 95 minute game.

Kalamazoo returns to action Saturday, Nov. 2 for its final home game against the Flying Dutchmen of Hope College. The game is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
