Hornets shutout the University of Chicago

Josh Robison playing soccer.

The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team took down the University of Chicago on Saturday night 1-0. The Hornets handed the Maroons their first loss of the season and Kalamazoo now holds a record of 2-1.

There wasn't a lot of action offensively in the first half until junior Jackson Greenstone scored what would go onto be the game's lone goal off a pass from junior Noah Bushaw.

Sophomore Joshua Robison played a strong game with two of Kalamazoo's six shots on goal. He also showed a lot of intensity on the defensive side of the ball, which led to him picking up a yellow card in the game's 51st minute.

The game got very physical for both teams in the second half and the Hornets drew three more yellow cards after Robison's, including two on senior Jory Finkelberg. Chicago drew one yellow card in the 86th minute.

Finkelberg was sent off after his second yellow card and Kalamazoo was forced to play a man down for the remaining sixteen minutes of the match. The Hornets were able to hold the lead due to a combined team defensive effort, led by senior goalkeeper Beau Prey. Prey was fantastic between the posts with 11 saves.

The Hornets will be home again at MacKenzie field Friday Sep. 12 to face off against Ohio Northern.
