Hornets shutout Trine 3-0

Jackson Greenstone playing soccer.

The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team defeated Trine 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. The win pushed the Hornets above .500, putting them at 5-4-2 so far this season, and 3-2-1 in conference play.

Joshua Robison got the Hornets off to a very aggressive start. He broke free into the thunder box repeatedly and eventually scored the first goal of the match in the 11th minute. He went on to lead the team in shots on goal with four. Emerson Talanda-Fisher and Jackson Greenstone both added goals as well. Greenstone came very close to adding a second goal late in the game. Werner Roennecke and Nicholas Shabino both had assists.

Beau Prey continued his stellar play with three saves, leading Kalamazoo to its fifth shutout victory of the year. The whole team played phenomenally on the defensive side of the ball, allowing the Thunder only three shots. The Hornets had possession for majority of the game and attempted 24 shots, with 12 of them being on goal.

Kalamazoo has now won three of its last four games and two in a row. The team will look to keep up its winning ways Tuesday, Oct.7 when it heads on the road to battle conference opponent Hope.
