KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team defeated Hope College 1-0 in overtime in the regular season finale on Saturday.

After a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation, Jordan Veillette headed in a goal off Kyle Hernandez's direct kick two and a half minutes into overtime. The win gives Kalamazoo sole possession of second place in the MIAA and a home MIAA Tournament semifinal game next Wednesday, Nov. 5. Kalamazoo's opponent will again be Hope as the Flying Dutchmen finished third in the conference with tonight's loss.

Kalamazoo controlled most of the game offensively and outshot Hope 26-8 overall, including 11-3 on goal. The Hornets put two shots off the crossbar in the first 15 minutes of the game and had several other scoring opportunities that just missed or were saved by Hope's keeper.

Beau Prey made three saves in goal for the Hornets while also knocking away several corner kicks and crosses.

This will be Kalamazoo's third consecutive year in the MIAA Tournament. Kalamazoo lost to Calvin in the semifinals each of the past two years.
