The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team got itself off on the right foot in the team's season opener against Elmhurst College with a 2-1 win Tuesday evening.

Josh Brodbine got the Hornets on the board early in the 12th minute as he ran onto a ball played through the backline of the Bluejays by Cal Kirchen.

K tacked on another goal before the referee's halftime whistle when Kirchen found a loose ball and gave the Hornets a 2-0 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the first half.

The Hornets conceded a goal late, but K allowed just one shot on goal in the entire 90 minutes of play.

Kyle Hernandez and Kirchen each recorded three shots in the match for the Hornets. Brodbine tallied two.

Kalamazoo will continue its non-conference schedule this Friday when the team travels to Ohio Wesleyan for a 7:30 p.m. match.
