BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team lost its season opener 2-1 at Illinois Wesleyan University Friday night.
The host Titans scored in the 14th minute and limited Kalamzoo's chances offensively throughout the first half with an 8-1 advantage in shots.
Illinois Wesleyan scored again in the 75th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
Kalamazoo got on the board in the 83rd minute with a goal by Trevor Towghi (Ben Tetlow assist).
The Hornets had one final opportunity with a corner kick in the closing seconds, but were unsuccessful in converting into a game-tying goal.
The Titans finished the game with a 13-3 advantage in shots (5-1 on goal).
Kalamazoo returns to action Saturday at Millikin University.
