Men's Soccer Wins Big Over Alma

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team got a big MIAA victory over Alma as they defeated the Scots 6-0. 

The Hornets got on the board early as Nick Brandstadt connected on his first goal of the match in the eighth minute. Ben Meschke assisted on the play. Senior Collin Sweet added a second goal for Kalamazoo just 10 minutes later off of Nick Kraeuter's assist. Brandstadt connected on a penalty kick in the 41st minute to put Kalamazoo up 3-0 before halftime. 

Meschke kept the momnetum in Kalamazoo's favor early in the second half with goals in the 48th and 50th minutes to extend the Hornet lead to 5-0. Gold Afolabi and Collin Sweet assisted on Meschke's goals.

Brandstadt completed his hat trick in the 58th minute for Kalamazoo's sixth and final goal of the match. Meschke and Alex Wallace assisted on the play. 

Kalamazoo dominated the offensive end as they put 10 shots on goal compared to Alma's two. 

Brandstadt and Meschke each collected six points in the match for the Hornets to give Kalamazoo it's first MIAA win of the season. 

The Hornets will look to carry the momentum into their match at Albion on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
