Men's Soccer Falls to Centre in NCAA Regionals

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer season came to an end with a 1-0 loss to Centre College in the first round of the NCAA III Championships at John Carroll on Saturday.

After a scoreless first half, Centre scored the game's only goal in the 52nd minute.

Kalamazoo outshot Centre 12-11, including one off the crossbar with about a minute and a half remaining. The Hornets also had a corner kick with about a minute left but were unable to convert. Kalamazoo had seven corner kicks in the game compared to zero for the Colonels. Centre had 22 fouls compared to 12 for Kalamazoo.

Eight different Hornets took a shot in the game led by Nick Kraeuter and Ben Meschke each with two. Luke Kastran made four saves in goal.

Kalamazoo finishes the season with a record of 11-5-2. The Hornets earned an at-large bid to the NCAA III Championships for the seventh time in school history and first time since 2001. It was the first year three teams from the MIAA earned a spot in the national tournament.
