Men's Swimming & Diving wins Michigan-Illinois Quad Meet

The Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team took first place at the Michigan-Illinois Quad Meet at the Jenison Aquatics Center on Saturday.

Kalamazoo took first place in seven events while finishing in the top two in 11 of the 13 events.

Event winners included:
-Michael Allen, 1000 Freestyle (10:07.40)
-Petar Simic, 50 Freestyle (:21.75)
-Petar Simic, 100 Freestyle (:48.47)
-Michael Allen, 500 Freestyle (4:51.27)
-Dylan Shearer, 200 Breaststroke (2:11.41)
-400 Free Relay (Benmark, Armstrong, Smith, Simic) (3:12.95)

Other top finishes included:
-400 Medley Relay (Ewing, Shearer, Fisher, Smith) (3:33.92), second place
-Jay Daniels, 200 Freestyle (1:47.86), third place
-Nick Smith, 50 Freestyle (:22.24), second place
-Kevin Ewing, 200 IM (2:02.63), third place
-Tyler Fisher, 200 Butterfly (2:00.04), second place

The men's team returns to dual meet competition when the Hornets face Calvin at Notre Dame on Friday, Jan. 18.
