OLIVET - The Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team won its first dual meet of the 2013-14 season 167.5-119.5 at Olivet College on Saturday.

Kalamazoo took first place in 12 of the 16 events.

"Tyler Fisher (200 Fly) and Alex Lindsay (1000 Fly) both had great swims today for the me," said Kalamazoo Head Coach Kathy Milliken. "The team had a really tough week of practice. Despite being extremely fatigued and sore, they came out and raced hard. Most of the upperclassmen swam faster in this meet than the first one last year which is always a good sign."

The men's 200 Medley Relay took first place with a time of 1:39.94 to open the meet (Wasko, Lindquist, McFarland, Allen). The 'B' team came in third (Earls, Zhiss, Kerbawy, Polzin).

Alex Lindsay won the 1000 Freestyle (10:19.96) while Gabe Solomon followed in second place.

Michael Allen took first place in the 200 Freestyle (1:50.63) as well as the 500 Freestyle (5:02.06). Lindsay finished second in the 500 Free.

Jacob Lindquist won the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:01.47.

Tyler Fisher took first in the 200 Butterfly (1:59.86) as well as the 100 Butterfly (:53.90) while also finishing second in the 200 IM. Tyler McFarland finished third in the 200 Fly.

Dylan Shearer won two events on the day, the 50 Freestyle (:21.71) and 100 Freestyle (:49.22). Nick Polzin finished third in both events.

Elliot Littman won the 1M Diving event (240.15) while finishing second in the 3M.

Kalamazoo closed out the meet by winning the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:29.32 (Wasko, Lindquist, Allen, Shearer). The 'B' team finished third (O'Meara, Solomon, Polzin, McFarland).

Kalamazoo finished second and third in the 100 Backstroke (Earls, Kerbawy) and 200 Backstroke (Wasko, Solomon) events.

Matt Zhiss also finished third in the 200 Breaststroke while Kelsey Kerbawy finished third in the 100 Butterfly.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Albion College next Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
