Men's Swimming and Diving third after two days of MIAA Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team competed in the second day of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday, Feb. 13 held at Calvin College.

The Hornets came into the day in fourth place after finishing fourth place in the 800 Yard Medley Relay yesterday, Feb. 12.

Kalamazoo began day two with a third place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. The Hornet squad of Nick Polzin, Jake Lindquist, Cameron Wasko, and Dylan Shearer swam a time of 1:23.89 – 1.2 seconds behind the winning team from Albion.

After a sixth place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle, Kalamazoo scored a fourth and fifth place finish in the 200 Yard Individual Medley. Kevin Ewing finished fourth            with a time of 1:55.49 and Tyler Fisher was fifth with a time of 1:55.52.

In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Kalamazoo had two swimmers in the finals. Shearer finished sixth while Lindquist finished eighth.

Elliot Littman took home the crown on the one-meter board with an overall score of 499.25. Doug McNabb finished sixth.

In the final event of the evening, Kalamazoo finished second in the 400 Yard Medley Relay. Ewing, Lindquist, Fisher, and Shearer swam a time of 3:24.95.

Kalamazoo currently sits in third place with 215 points, 75 behind first place Calvin. Day Three beings tomorrow, Feb. 14, at 10:00 a.m.
