Will Guedes named Academic All-American

Kalamazoo College's Will Guedes '15 has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-America Division III Men's At-Large Second Team as announced by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) on Tuesday. Guedes selection marks Kalamazoo's 40th Academic All-America honor. Guedes is Kalamazoo's eighth two-time Academic All-America selection after earning the award previously in 2013.

A senior from Brasilia, Brazil, Guedes was also selected to the Academic All-District team in 2013 and 2015. He has twice been named the Most Valuable Diver in the MIAA, including this past season. He finished fifth in the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the NCAA Division III Championships in Texas in March, earning All-American honors in both events. Guedes is a five-time All-American with five top-five finishes at nationals, including a national championship in the 1-meter in 2013. Holding a 3.77 GPA as a computer science major, Guedes has twice been on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll as well as earning two CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America) Scholar All-American honors.

Coached by Kathy Milliken, the Kalamazoo College men's swimming & diving team finished second in the MIAA this season and 31st at nationals. Guedes was a member of MIAA championship teams in 2012 and 2013.
