The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) named Sharif Shaker its Men's Swimmer/Diver of the Week on Monday for meets through Jan. 17.
Shaker, a freshman from Castro Valley, Calif., won three events to help Kalamazoo men win the Michigan-Illinois Quad meet on Saturday in Holland. His individual swims were both in-season bests.
He anchored the 400 Medley Relay with a split of 47.35 and touched the wall first for the Hornets. Shaker also won the 200 butterfly in a meet record time of 1:56.83 and won the 500 freestyle in 4:49.71.
