KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Sharif Shaker of the Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team was named MIAA Swimmer of the Week on Monday.
Shaker, a senior from Castro Valley, Calif. (Fame Public Charter HS), posted a big week in Kalamazoo's two-meet weekend.
The senior began the week on Friday by winning the 200 freestyle with a score of 1:48.08 in Kalamazoo's 150-82 win over Olivet.
Shaker followed up this performance by winning the 200 backstroke (1:59.76) and the 100 butterfly (:52.86) against Calvin on Saturday.
This is the third time Shaker has been named Swimmer of the Week in his career and the first of his senior season.
This was the Hornets' last dual meet of the season as they prepare for the MIAA Championships Feb. 20-23 in Holland.
