KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated Augustana College 8-1 in the Markin Center on Sunday.
Kalamazoo swept the three doubles points in close matches before winning five of six singles matches in straight sets.
Elan Dantus and David DeSimone opened doubles with an 8-5 win at two. Spencer Navarre and Eric De Witt followed with a 9-7 win at three while Branden Metzler and Robert Hudson completed the sweep with a 9-8(7) win at one.
DeSimone earned Kalamazoo's fourth point with a 6-0, 6-2 win at two singles. Metzler clinched the win for the Hornets with a 6-2, 6-4 win at one.
De Witt won 6-4, 6-2 at four singles while Dantus won 6-2, 6-0 at six and Navarre won 6-2, 6-3 at five.
Kalamazoo improved to 7-4 with the win. The Hornets return to conference play at home on Wednesday, April 1 against Alma at 4 p.m.
