Men's Tennis sweeps in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team competed in two matches Saturday on the campus of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. and came away with two wins. The Hornets defeated Rhodes, 7-2, in match one and West Alabama, 5-4, in match two.

Match one vs. Rhodes

Kalamazoo got itself off to a strong start as the Hornets swept the three doubles matches. Branden Metzler and Elan Dantus won at one doubles, 8-4.

Robert Hudson and Eric De Witt won 9-7 in two doubles, and Allen Vinson and Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado won at three doubles, 8-4.

Individually, Metzler, Dantus and Vinson carried their momentum into singles, winning one, three and four singles, respectively. Metzler won 6-2, 6-3; Dantus won 2-6, 6-2, 10-6; and Vinson won 6-1, 6-2.

Spencer Navarre picked up another win for the Hornets at six singles, winning 7-5, 6-3.

Match two vs. West Alabama

Kalamazoo once again got itself off to a strong start winning two of the three doubles matches.

Metzler and Dantus won at one doubles, 9-7, and Vinson and DelOlmo-Parrado won at three doubles, 8-3.

Metzler picked up his fourth win of the day winning 6-2, 6-1 in one singles.

DelOlmo-Parrado picked up another win at six singles going 6-2, 6-2, and Navarre secured the win for the Hornets with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 win at five singles.

The Hornets get a couple days off before taking on Oglethorpe on March 22.
