CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team won its first round NCAA III Championships match 5-0 over Messiah College at Case Western Reserve University on Friday.
Kalamazoo made quick work in doubles before winning two singles matches to clinch the win.
Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado and Allen Vinson won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles to get things started. Eric De Witt and Robert Hudson were right behind with an 8-1 win at two. Branden Metzler and Elan Dantus completed the sweep with an 8-4 win at one.
Spencer Navarre earned Kalamazoo's fourth point with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. Branden Metzler finished the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at one for his 27th win of the season.
Kalamazoo, ranked No. 35 in the nation, improved to 19-4 overall. The Hornets will face No. 17 Kenyon (12-9) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
