Men's Tennis improves to 5-0

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team continued its strong start to the 2017 season Sunday morning as the group improved to 5-0 with a 6-3 win over the visitors from Denison University.

The Hornets, ranked No. 19 in the country, jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles courtesy of wins from Branden Metzler and Elan Dantus at one doubles (8-5) and Daniel Henry and Allen Vinson at three doubles (8-5).

It was Metzler who gave the Hornets a 3-1 lead taking care of business at one singles winning 6-4, 6-2 before Eric De Witt took four singles (7-5, 6-4) and Dantus took five singles (6-3, 7-5), clinching the victory.

Vinson made short order of Costas Alevizopoulos at six singles winning 6-1, 6-0 in the Hornets final singles win of the day.

Kalamazoo will take a two-week break from competition before beginning at four-match road stretch that ends with the MIAA opener at Trine University on April 1.
