KALAMAZOO, Mich. – For the second time this season, Kalamazoo College's Branden Metzler has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's men's tennis player of the week.
Metzler went a combined 4-0 in his singles and doubles matches this weekend against Alma and No. 39 Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Against Alma, Metzler didn't lose a game in both singles and doubles. He took his doubles match with Elan Dantus, 8-6, against Wisconsin-Whitewater and his one singles match, 6-2, 6-2.
The national runner-up for singles last season, this is the ninth time is Metzler's storied four-year career he's been named the MIAA player of the week.
Metzler and the Hornets will continue MIAA play this Thursday when they travel to Hope College. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
