KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Kalamazoo College's Ian Yi was named MIAA Player of the Week for the third time this season for his efforts this week.
Yi, a freshman from Ann Arbor, Mich. (Pioneer HS), won all four of his matches this week including 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 wins at one singles over Alma and Wisconsin-Whitewater. Yi also won both matches at one doubles with Daneil Henry.
The freshman is now 19-4 in singles including wins in six straight matches. His 7-0 conference record assisted in Kalamazoo's 42-0 overall record in MIAA singles matches en route to its 85th conference championship in program history.
Yi and Henry finished the regular season at 12-5 at one singles and won nine of their last 10. The duo finished the MIAA schedule with a 7-0 record. The Hornets won 20 of 21 MIAA doubles matches.
Kalamazoo returns to Stowe Stadium on Thursday, May 2 when it hosts Adrian at 4 p.m. for the MIAA Tournament Semifinal.
