Ian Yi lost his opening round match of the NCAA III Singles Championships 6-3, 6-2 to the No. 3 seed Jonathan Jemison of Emory University Friday inside the Markin Center.
A freshman from Ann Arbor, Mich. (Pioneer HS), Yi qualified for the tournament with a singles record of 21-4 this season, ending at 21-5. He earned MIAA MVP honors with a 7-0 league record. Yi earned MIAA Player of the Week honors three times, was ranked third in the region in the latest rankings (April 25), and was named ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year.
