Kalamazoo College's Ian Yi was named MIAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday. This is his second MIAA weekly award of the season and sixth for his career.
A senior from Ann Arbor, Mich. (Pioneer), Yi went 2-0 on the week as the Hornets defeated DePauw University 5-4 in a matchup of regionally-ranked teams on Saturday in Indiana.
Yi and Peter Fitzgerald earned Kalamazoo's only point in doubles, an 8-4 win at one. His 6-2, 6-3, win at one singles was the clinching win for the Hornets in the match.
On the season, Yi is 6-7 at one singles overall and 3-0 in MIAA play. Yi and Fitzgerald are 8-6 at one doubles (4-0 MIAA).
The Hornets are back in action at home this Wednesday, April 20 with a 4 p.m. start against Albion.
