The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team had two individuals selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday (May 9). The student-athletes selected were Adnan Alousi and Peter Fitzgerald.
To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played at least 50% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
As an All-MIAA Second Team performer for the second straight season, Alousi competed in the #3 singles and #2 doubles spots for Kalamazoo. He finished with a team-best 13-8 record in doubles matches, including 6-0 in conference matches. Alousi teamed up with Casey Johnson for 18 matches while playing with Louis Landreau and Tieran Rafferty in the other three. He also had the best singles record at 16-6 with a 6-0 MIAA record.
Fitzgerald rounded out his career as a Hornet with a successful season, earning All-MIAA First Team honors for the second consecutive season. Fitzgerald and doubles partner Gabe Vidinas went 9-10 in #1 doubles matches, including a 5-0 conference record. He also competed with Landreau in his one other MIAA doubles match and secured the victory to go 10-10. As the #2 singles player, he had a 13-6 record with a perfect 6-0 MIAA record.
Now that the two student-athletes have made the district team, they will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in late May.
