KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Trailing 2-1 after doubles, Kalamazoo rallied to win all six singles matches to beat Trine 7-2 and win a share of the 2024 MIAA championship.

Kalamazoo fell 5-4 to Calvin earlier in the season. Trine defeated Calvin 5-4 last weekend, setting up an opportunity for the Thunder to win the conference championship outright today. Trine won two of the three doubles matches outside at Stowe Stadium. Early in singles play, rain forced the rest of the matches indoors, where Kalamazoo rallied to win each of the first four in straight sets to claim the match and a share of the conference championship with Trine and Calvin. The Hornets also won in super tiebreaks at five and six singles to seal the 7-2 win.

Gabe Vidinas/Alex Fleming won 8-6 at one doubles.

Vidinas (1), Adnan Alousi (2), Fleming (3) and Julian Bilbao (4) each won in straight sets in singles to clinch the match.

Lucas Preston won 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 at five singles. Seth Keana won 6-3, 0-6, 10-3 at six.

The conference championship is Kalamazoo's 89th in program history and seventh in the current streak.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to host Wisconsin-Whitewter in a non-conference match on Sunday, April 28, before the MIAA Tournament begins next Wednesday. Kalamazoo will be the top seed in the MIAA Tournament and will host fourth-seeded Hope College next Wednesday, May 1, in a semifinal match.
