KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College cross country teams have swept the MIAA Runner of the Week awards as Jackson Kelly has won the award for male runners this week.
Kelly ran a lifetime best 16:01 in the 5K EMU Fall Classic over the weekend to finish in 21st place overall among a field of primarily NCAA DI runners. In addition to being a personal record, his time was a 37 second improvement over his finish at the same course last year.
Kelly, a sophomore from Grosse Ile, has consistently been K's top runner this season, including a ninth place finish at the Lansing Invitational earlier this season.
He is being honored as Runner of the Week for the second time in his career.
The Kalamazoo cross country team will compete next at Adrian on Saturday at the MIAA Championship meet which kicks off at 11 a.m.
