Softball takes two from Albion

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College softball team won both games of a doubleheader with Albion on Sunday, 8-7 and 13-1.

Albion scored the first run in the top of the first in the opener, but Kalamazoo scored two runs in the bottom half and never relinquished the lead. The Hornets took advantage of a five-run fourth inning and added the eventual game-winning run in the fifth.

Kalamazoo had 11 hits in the game compared to seven for Albion.

Madeline Sinkovich and Abby Anderson were both 2-for-4. Sinkovich scored two runs while Anderson had a double.

Dana Page had two stolen bases in the game while driving in two runs. Emma Patrash also drove in a pair of runs. Rachel Epstein was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Victoria Najacht earned her first win of the season on the mound while Taylor Clements earned the save.

Kalamazoo scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings in the 13-1 rout in game two. The Hornets had 11 hits in the game while holding Albion to just two. The Hornets also left seven runners on base in the contest.

Madeline Sinkovich was 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and four runs scored. Abby Anderson was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Emma Patrash also drove in three runs.

Megan Malish was 2-for-2 with with a pair of RBIs. Dana Page doubled and had two RBIs.

Taylor Clements earned her fourth win of the season on the mound, allowing just two hits while striking out six and walking none.

Kalamazoo returns to action with an MIAA doubleheader at Adrian on Tuesday, April 16 at 3:30 p.m.
