Softball loses to Hope

HOLLAND, MI, - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost 6-2, and 11-2, in a doubleheader on the road to Hope on Wednesday afternoon. The Hornets fall to 5-13 overall this season.

In the first game Kalamazoo trailed early after the Flying Dutch put three runs on the board in the first three innings. Kalamazoo was able to muster one run over that span off of a Maddy Sinkovich homerun. The Hornets would score again in the top of the fourth off of a single by Emma Patrash and cut the lead to 3-2.

Kalamazoo gave up three crucial runs to Hope in the bottom of the sixth inning that led to the Dutch coming away with the win. Erin DuRoss pitched all six innings for the Hornets giving up six runs on 11 hits.

The Hornets trailed early in the second game as well as the Flying Dutch had a 6-1 lead by the bottom of the second inning. In the later innings the Hornets were able to tack on one more run but Hope tacked on another five. The game was called after five innings.

Briana Huisken came through for Kalamazoo with two runs battted in, but nobody else on the team was able to drive in a run. The Hornets were outhit 13-3

Erin DuRoss and Victoria Najacht combined to give up 11 earned runs on 13 hits pitching for Kalamazoo.

The Hornets next game is Saturday, April 11 at home against Calvin.
