CLERMONT, Fla. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a pair of games on its final day in Florida, defeating Worcester State 9-2 in the opener before falling 6-3 to Rochester Institute of Technology.

Game One

Kalamazoo scored a run in the first and added runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings to secure the win.

In the first, Nori Seita singled through the left side to drive home Angelia Evangelista with two outs. Briana Huisken's two out single in the third drove home a pair of runs to put Kalamazoo up 3-0.

A two out single by Megan Malish drove in another two runs in the fourth while Kennedy Boulton's bunt single plated another to make it 6-0 Kalamazoo.

Worcester State scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but Kalamazoo responded with three insurance runs in the bottom half highlighted by Erin DuRoss' two run double to left. Boulton drove in the ninth run of the game with a single.

Angelia Evangelista finished 3-for-4 while Kennedy Boulton went 2-for-2. Boulton, DuRoss, Malish and Huisken each had two RBIs.

Kalamazoo had a season-high 12 hits in the game after having 11 hits in the final game yesterday.

Nori Seita earned the win on the mound in five innings of work while DuRoss pitched the final two innings.

Game Two

Kalamazoo took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Erin DuRoss' single up the middle to score Isabella Kirck. The Hornets maintained the slim lead until the fourth inning when RIT pushed five runs across the plate.

RIT added a run in the top of the fifth before Kalamazoo scored in the bottom half. Kalamazoo made it 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh on a home run by Angelia Evangelista, but could not get any closer before the final out.

The Hornets now head back to Michigan where they are scheduled to face Cornerstone University on Friday in Grand Rapids before the home opener scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. against North Park.
