KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College softball team fell in both games of its doubleheader Tuesday afternoon to the visitors from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

The Wolverines took game one, 2-0, and game two, 16-12, in nine innings.

Game One

In a game dominated by strong pitching with each team only recording four hits, Michigan-Dearborn broke through on two separate occasions.

The Wolverines' Kylie Hill hit a solo home run in the second inning, and the Wolverines drove in another run in the sixth on a single to right field.

Kalamazoo threatened to get on the board in the bottom of the fifth loading the bases with one out, but the Hornets came up empty.

Despite picking up the loss, Erin DuRoss pitched a complete game striking out nine Wolverines.

Game Two

What proved to be quite the opposite from game one, the Wolverine's bats allowed Michigan-Dearborn to take an 11-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth, but K's bats came to life in the late innings.

A five-run fifth and sixth inning gave Kalamazoo a 12-11 lead with just three outs remaining heading to the top of the seventh, but the Wolverines answered with a single run in the top of the inning ultimately sending the game to extras.

After both teams were held scoreless in the eighth, the Wolverines made the breakthrough with four runs in the ninth and that's all they would need on their way to a game two win.

The top four spots of the Kalamazoo line up consisting of Isabella Kirck, Andrea MacMichael, Erin DuRoss and Paige Maguire combined to go 10-for-19 in game two with four RBIs.

Victoria Najacht also drove in two runs going 1-for-4.

Kalamazoo gets back to conference play this Saturday when it travels to nationally ranked Trine University for a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
