ANGOLA, Ind. – In the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader of the season, the Kalamazoo College softball team looked to play the upset card against No. 20 Trine University, but the Thunder came away with a 6-4 win in game one and a 14-0 win in game two.

Game One

Kalamazoo propelled itself to an early lead as Erin DuRoss recorded an RBI single in the top of the first, but Trine answered quickly.

The Thunder tied the game on a bases loaded walk in the second and took a 2-1 lead on a solo home run to left field from Kaylee Fox.

The Hornets were not intimidated, though. After a scoreless fourth frame from both sides, the Hornets regained the lead in the top of the fifth after Nori Seita recorded an RBI single and two runners came around to score as Dana Page reached base on an error.

After Trine cut the Hornet lead to one in the bottom of the fifth, the Thunder regained the lead definitively in the sixth scoring three more runs.

Isabella Kirck led the way for Kalamazoo offensively reaching base in every plate appearance. She recorded two hits, two walks and two runs.

Seita also recorded two hits Kalamazoo in game one.

Game Two

After a close game one, the Thunder validated their national ranking in game two taking the nightcap, 14-0.

Trine scored five runs in the second, one run in the third and four runs in both the fourth and fifth, securing two wins on the day.

Paige Maguire and Erika Pueblo each recorded hits for K.

Kalamazoo will look to bounce back this Wednesday when they host Hope for another MIAA doubleheader.
