ALMA, Mich. – Coming off a win over No. 4 Trine University yesterday afternoon, the Kalamazoo College softball team hoped to carry its momentum into Sunday as the Hornets traveled to Alma College for another Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader.

But the Scots had other plans. Alma defeated Kalamazoo in game one, 4-1, and in game two, 8-1.

Game One

Erin DuRoss got the Hornets off to a hot start in the top of the first as she launched a home run giving K the 1-0 lead but Alma countered in the bottom half of the inning scoring one run of its own on an RBI single.

The Scots tacked on three more runs throughout the game as the Hornets were held in check by Alma's Morgan Stratton. K recorded just three hits in the game.

DuRoss, Hayleigh Alamo and Briana Huisken each ended game one 1-for-3.

Game Two

Hoping to find some life in their bats in game two, it was more of the same for the Hornets as they managed to record just two hits in the game two, 8-1, loss.

Kalamazoo's lone run came in the bottom of the third when Isabella Kirck drove in Anna Majewsk on a sacrifice fly.

Alamo and Alyssa Heitkamp each recorded hits for the Hornets in game two.

Kalamazoo will look to get back on the winning side of things on Wednesday, April 12 when the Hornets play host to Hope College. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
