Ashley Schiffer playing softball.

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost 9-5 and 8-1 to nationally-ranked Trine Thursday afternoon.

Game One

Trine put two runs on the board in the first inning, but Kalamazoo tied up the game in the second after Briana Huisken reached on a walk and then Andrea MacMichael hit a home run to center field to bring her home.

The Hornets took the lead in the third as Ashley Schiffer sent a pitch over the left field wall to score three runs. Trine, however, answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning before tacking on one more in the bottom of the sixth.

Keelin McManus led K at the plate going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Game Two

Trine scored a total of five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take control of the second game of the doubleheader. Briana Huisken blasted K's third home run of day to left center in the bottom of the fifth, but the Hornets could not find enough offense to keep pace with the Thunder.

Huisken, Alyssa Heitkamp, and Andrea MacMichael each went 1-for-3 to record K's three runs in the contest.

Keelin McManus took the loss for K, giving up 11 hits and striking out four in seven innings of work.

The Hornets will travel to Hope for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 7th.
